What is the Training Institute?

The ADAMHS Board of Cuyahoga County operates a Training Institute that provides quality, affordable training to the behavioral health workforce, clients, family members and the public. The Training Institute is an approved provider through the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board and the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist Board offering Recognized Clock Hours (RCH) to Chemical Dependency Professionals as well as Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to Counselors and Social Workers.  

Fees for the ADAMHS Board Training Institute workshops are $25 per half-day (2-4 hour) session and $45 for a full-day (5+ hour) session. Occasionally, workshops will be offered free on an as-needed basis per topic. Workshop fees are non-refundable.

Workshop Description: Leading with Emotional Intelligence

Today, as our world becomes more complex, we are all being called to respond to the needs of others in a way we have never experienced before. Responding to the needs of our peers, subordinates, and clients requires us to develop increased competency in emotional intelligence.

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a set of skills that help us respond to and intelligently use our emotions. Our level of EI contributes to our well-being, longevity, performance, and clinical relationships. It is the ability to recognize, understand, and manage your emotions and the emotions of others effectively. EI affects how you manage behavior and work through social complexities. It influences how you handle stress, make decisions, and achieve positive outcomes.

Leaders at all levels in the organization are expected to bring much more to their work than subject matter expertise. When we are high in emotional intelligence, we can increase engagement, retention, performance, and outcomes. The training will increase our understanding of Emotional Intelligence and ways that we can develop it to perform more successfully.
